DISTANCE LEARNING DEGREE
Distance learning degrees are becoming more and more prevalent and available to the student. Distance learning is a process whereby classes or specific programs can be taken remotely and classroom time is not required.
There are many benefits to distance learning. The most obvious are the benefits to the student. A student who can not or prefers not to attend a traditional college or university and participate in regular classes can earn a distance learning degree from home. This is helpful to the student who is involved with family and already in a career; the student who travels regularly; the student who moves from city to city frequently; or a student who may be physically challenged. In addition, the financial savings are substantial in pursuing a distance learning degree versus a traditional college experience.
Most students enjoy the opportunity to work at their own pace in a distance
learning degree program. They can take as much time as needed to complete courses within the parameters of the degree program, or for the student who wishes to accelerate their pace and finish more quickly, that option is also available.
Distance learning is a neat little package of all the educational options available through the time, effort, and comfort of the student. While the classroom setting is not included, schools who offer distance learning still provide the staff and instructors to their students to assure the availability of a quality education.
Without the classroom setting, many students feel more relaxed and able to learn. There is no peer pressure and the student may find they are much more able to absorb the information needed to complete the course in a comfortable setting. Also, there are no problems with parking, running to class, eating cafeteria food, or carrying stacks and stacks of textbooks around a campus.
