PROGRAM DEGREE
A plan or system under which action may be taken toward a goal is one of Merriam-Websters definitions of program. The plan or system for a program degree is usually established by a college or university for a specific degree. There are certain courses that must be taken in a certain order under the direction of a certain professor to fulfill their requirements. The action may be taken is an act by the student who is seeking a program degree from a college or university. The action involves researching the program degree desired, enrolling at the college or university where the program degree is offered, then actively pursuing the program degree through study, dedication, and hard work. The goal of both the college or university and the student is the completion of the program requirements and the presentation of the particular program degree.
Program degrees vary in requirements by the kind of degree being sought, the level of the degree, and the method by which the degree is going to be undertaken. Degrees are defined by specific courses for specific programs. All degree programs require more credit hours than are actually included in the required courses. This allows the student to choose electives to complete the credit hours needed that are within their own personal interests. Having an elective during a program degree study can allow the student a break from the structure of their program and open up new areas of interest and study.
To provide degrees that are accredited, colleges and universities have guidelines to follow in their programs to assure the quality of the education being provided. These guidelines include the kinds of courses stipulated for program degrees, the level of competency required to pass the program degree, and the level of education for the instructor to teach the particular program degree.
The culmination of all these parts working together results in the completion of a program degree.
